In 1999, Bert Morrow, President of Intravision, had ‘a vision for the future’, and designed the concept of a ‘one stop’ employment service for work seekers to “get ontrac” in their job search. ontrac‘s delivery of service is ‘targeting rural area communities’ and is staffed by professional employment and career counsellors, employment specialists and certified career practitioners.

The ontrac employment resource centre in Arnprior has been providing employment services since 2000, with ontrac in Smiths Falls providing the same employment services since 2002.

In 2010, ontrac was selected by Employment Ontario/Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to deliver the ‘full suite’ of Employment Services as part of the Employment Ontario Network. In addition to the ontrac Employment Resource Services, Intravision was also awarded the Employment Ontario contract to deliver the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW) program for Lanark County in 2010. This program provides specialized employment services for individuals 55+. The TIOW New Directions office is located in Smiths Falls (www.tiownewdirections.ca). TIOW staff travels throughout Lanark County to meet with clients.

Our Employment Services Centre provides free ‘employment assistance services’ in 2 offices located in Arnprior and Smiths Falls. Each centre contains a fully equipped resource centre which includes computers with internet access, photocopier, fax machine, job board, newspapers, work search and resource materials, community resources as well as professional staff to provide assistance.

Individuals also have access to confidential one-on-one assisted services, employment and career counselling, (by appointment) to help work searchers develop focused resumes, letters in job search and build their portfolios. Clients learn effective job search marketing skills and obtain supported assistance in career decision making and employment goal setting.

To get “ontrac”…work seekers need to determine where the jobs are, how to understand future labour market trends, profile employers, conduct occupational and educational research and connect with employers. Counsellors assist in developing service plans for realistic and attainable career choices.

As part of the Employment Ontario network, ontrac also provides services to employer clients. We can assist employers develop and reach their business goals, through job matching, placement and incentives.

Our staff works closely with other government and community agencies to ensure all of our clients receive the appropriate services to meet their individual needs.
