Join the Team at Gemmell’s Garden Centre – Now Hiring a Production Manager!

Are you an organized, team-oriented leader passionate about horticulture and operational excellence? At Gemmell’s Garden Centre, we’re dedicated to growing exceptional plants, fostering sustainability, and staying ahead of gardening trends. Now, we’re looking for a Production Manager to oversee our plant production operations and lead our talented team in delivering the high-quality products our customers love.

What You’ll Do:

Production Planning and Management:
- Work closely with the Lead Grower to plan and manage staffing and production schedules.
- Collaborate with the Production Liaison and office staff to ensure staffing, inventory, and operations run smoothly.
- Support the Grower in maintaining and implementing production plans using the EOS management system.

Scheduling and Operations:
- Create and implement operational schedules in VMX and other tools to improve efficiency.
- Record data for planning and track tasks using Excel, ClickUp, and Google Calendar.
- Ensure payroll and employee paperwork are accurately processed.

Planting and Maintenance:
- Oversee and assist with soil preparation, transplanting, and plant maintenance.
- Monitor plant health, addressing issues like pests, weeds, and nutrient deficiencies promptly.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

Order Fulfillment and Shipping:
- Lead the production team in preparing and organizing orders for wholesale shipping.
- Ensure efficient and accurate preparation of flats, pots, and hanging baskets for delivery.

Team Leadership and Training:
- Provide guidance, support, and training to production team members.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with clear communication.
- Ensure all tasks align with company standards for quality and efficiency.

What You Offer:
- Adequate knowledge of various plants and their characteristics OR a willingness to learn quickly.
- Comfort working in a team setting and independently.
- Experience in horticulture and/or production.
- Strong prioritization and initiative skills.
- Excellent communication and ability to follow directions.
- Flexibility with scheduling.
- Physical stamina to lift up to 50lbs, stand for long hours, and work in all weather conditions.
- Horticultural education is considered an asset.
